Xenia (OH) Daily Gazette, October 21, 1897, p. 3. BANKER'S SON Killed By a Train While Stealing a Ride in Fun Scottsburg, Ind., October 20-Clyde Montgomery, the 18-year-old son of Richard W. Montgomery, president of the Scott County Bank, was killed last night by falling between the cars of a moving freight train on the Pittsburg, Cincinnati, Chicago and St. Louis Railroad two miles north of here. Several cars passed over his body which mangled him horribly. The boy was stealing a ride as a lark.
