    3. Indianapolis (IN) Journal, January 14, 1894. JAMES B. GALVIN OF NASHVILLE ROBBED OF $250 AND VALUABLE PAPERS James B. Galvin, a dealer in hides at Nashville, Ind., reports to the police the loss of money and papers of the value of $500. He came to Indianapolis on Friday and says that he was robbed of his money some time Friday night. Galvin entered an East Washington Street restaurant about three o'clock yesterday morning much the worse for liquor. He ordered a lunch but before he could be served fell into a maudlin sleep. It was nearly four o'clock when he awoke and made the statement that he had been robbed. He believed that he had entered the restaurant with a young man whom he did not know and that the latter had relieved him of his valuables. His watch was found in his overcoat pocket, but his purse was gone. Galvin said that the pocketbook contained $250 in cash and papers of equal value. He remembered to have met a stranger in Wellacher's saloon on Washington Street and had drank a considerable amount of fire water with his new acquaintance. He described the latter as being a smooth-faced man with watery blue eyes. He was confident that he left the saloon in company with this man and insisted that they came to the restaurant together. The clerks at the eating house assert that Galvin came in alone and very drunk.
