    3. Crawford County (IN) Democrat, February 7, 1918, p. 8. JAMES HENRY HICKS James Henry Hicks was born in Washington County, Indiana, March 14, 1853, and died February 4, 1918, at the age of 64 years, 10 months and 20 days, at his home at Bacon. His father and mother were taken from him when he was just a small child leaving him solely dependent on relatives and friends. When about 22 years of age, he came to Crawford County and on November 15, he was united in marriage to Carrie Cook, and to this union two children were born, a daughter, Mrs. Mary Boswell, who resides in Princeton, Ind., and a son, Martin Hicks, who lives near the home of his parents. Henry, which was the term generally used when addressing the departed one, was possessed of good habits and was held in high esteem by his neighbors and friends. At an early age in his life he united with the Methodist Episcopal Church of which he was a member when he died. The last year of his life was one of great suffering yet through it all he bore his affliction with a patient mind and in a heroic way. The deceased leaves to mourn his loss a wife, two children, one grandchild, and a host of relatives and friends. On Tuesday, February 5, at 2 PM, the funeral service was conducted at the home, the Rev. W. F. Fink of English being in charge. He was then taken to the silent city of the dead and there laid to rest.
