UNWRITTEN LAW TO BE PLEA IN MURDER CASE The case of Grover Miller of Salem, charged with murder, was opened in the Lawrence Circuit Court at Bedford on a change of venue yesterday. Judge Swails presiding. Miller is charged with the murder of Night Policeman Grant McCoy of Salem at midnight, August 14, 1914. McCoy was making his usual rounds in the business district when Miller, who hid in a stairway and jumped from hiding as his victim passed, fired a shot that entered the lower part of McCoy's head. McCoy died almost immediately. Miller declared that the policeman had insulted Mrs. Miller. >From questions asked the jurors, the "unwritten law" may be one of the points of defense on the part of the defendant's attorneys.
