Bloomington (IN) Newsletter, April 7, 1855, p. 1. SAD ACCIDENT-An Irishman by the name of Barney Shine, while in a state of intoxication, undertook on Thursday night, the 29th, ult., to walk to his home which was out on the railroad two miles from New Albany. When he had proceeded about half way, a train of cars came along and ran over him. His leg and arm were completely crushed. Drs. Sloan, Graham and Bowman of New Albany amputated both limbs. His recovery is exceedingly doubtful.
