    1. [IN-SOUTH-CENTRAL] Harrison County: William Highfils Didn't Die
    2. Randi Richardson via
    3. Ft. Wayne (IN) Sentinel, July 30, 1879, p. 2. William Highfils of Harrison County, who died from a hoop snake bite (as noted) in every paper in the state a few days ago, made a flank movement and didn't die at all. He was at the point of death, so the press just killed him on paper to save two items. When composition costs 30 cents per 1,000, an editor can't afford to make two items out of one snake bite. We're glad, though, just the same that we didn't say any hard things about Mr. Highfils when we killed him. If a man wants to bite himself with a snake and then get over it, there is no law to stop him.
