Samuel Wylie Dodds, born May 22, 1841, in Corydon, Indiana; died November 7, 1861, in St. Louis. Educated in Bloomington. Degree-A.B. Occupation and position-enlisted in the Union Army soon after graduation, Eighteenth Regiment, Company H. Went with his company to join Gen. Fremont's army in Missouri. Was sent to take care of a dying comrade, R. D. Wylie; was taken sick himself and died in hospital at St. Lois. Mr. Dodds was a member of the Presbyterian Church by baptism and profession of faith, and a young man of more than ordinary talents.
