The June 2012 issue of the INDIANA GENEALOGIST includes an index to the Brown County Probate Order Book, 1837-1850, the county's earliest probate order book. It was compiled from microfilmed records recently made available by the Brown County's Clerk's Office. There are about 180 names in the index. Copies of the article are available with individual or library memberships to the Indiana Genealogical Society. If your library is not a subscriber, check with nearby libraries or become a member yourself. Membership information is available at http://www.indgensoc.org/membership.php. Anyone can view the records in their entirety at the Clerk's Office in Nashville. Additionally, copies of the records can be ordered at a cost of $1.00/page. The Clerk's Office can be reached by phone at 812-988-5510.
