CIRCUS VEET STAYS WITH BIG TOP LIFE Jerry Mugivan Sells Interests to Ringling for Several Million Peru, Ind., Oct. 19-Jerry Mugivan, who started with nothing and 36 years later sold his interest in the American Circus corporation to John Ringling for a sum said to be millions, is going to stick to the life of the big tops-and Peru is happy. Mugivan, who lives in this circus city, says he and his partner, Bert Bowers, are not ready to give up the glamorous life despite the fact that they do not own any circus. In the 25 years they have been together, they have bought and sold a dozen circuses. Mugivan got into circus life selling peanuts. In 1893 he had advanced to a ticket seller's window. In 1904, with Bowers, he organized (on a shoe string, he says) the "Great Van Amber Show" at Kansas City, Howes Great London Show, the Dode Fish Show, the Danny Robinson Famous Shows, John Robinson's circus and the Hagenback and Wallace circus in order, passed into their hands. The American Circus Corporation was formed in 1921 with Ed Ballard of West Baden, Ind.; Zack Terrell of Owensboro, Ky., and C. D. Odom of Birmingham, Ala., as other incorporators. ____________________________________________________________________________ ________
