Nadine, Is there a Jesse Blevins in your husband’s Blevins line? He married Catherine Boling in Washington Co., IN on 22 May 1859. He died in the Civil War in Dalton, GA on 8 March 1865. He was in the 145th Indiana Inf., Co. B. His widow Catherine applied for a widow’s pension - Certificate #118.796. She remarried later to a James Owens and then applied for a minor’s pension for her Blevins children in 1870. I also have Blevins in my line, but I’ve not been able to connect them with the Indiana Blevins I’ve found. Keep hoping to pick up a tidbit about my husbands great grandfathers Snider, Blevins and Ruberson families who lived we think mostly in Crawford and Orange, and possibly Brown, Perry and some surrounding ones. Had never heard of whitecapping, but it kind of shows how live then. Told one of our friends one day that we were researching in that area and she said thats where I came from. Lived there till I was seven. And that her Dad's family (Waltman) had apprently been early settlers there. Something came through the list on Waltman the other day so am going to call and tell her.
