Scottsburg (IN) Chronicle, February 2, 1905, p. 4. ALBERT RICHEY CAUGHT Wanted for Deserting from the Army Albert Richey, who escaped from the county jail here on the night of December 30, 1902, by cutting a hole through the wall where he was confined awaiting trial on the charge of stealing a cow, was arrested early Saturday night at the home of Eli Stewart in Finley Township by Town Marshal George Walker, Thomas H. Everitt and Edward Gray. He was arrested on the charge of being a deserter from the regular army. He was taken to Ft. Thomas near Covington, Ky., and turned over the military authorities. After his escape from the jail here, Richey made his way to St. Louis where he enlisted in the army. About two years ago while stationed in Idaho, he deserted and went to Kentucky. A little over a week ago, he returned to this county to visit his wife who is seriously ill of lung trouble. The charge for which he was awaiting trial when he broke jail still stands against him
