    3. Unfortunately, I'm not surprised. Pages to be indexed were randomly made available by FamilySearch to volunteers rather than trying to make them available to those with a familiarity with a given area. That is the reason my contribution to the indexing project was very minimal. On the other hand, I have worked with the 1940 Monroe County Census to create my own index and have been able to corroborate information with a 1940 city directory. Today I was working with the 1920 Crawford County census at Ancestry made available by FamilySearch some time ago. I looked at 18 pages for Jennings Township, District 26. On EVERY page I made one or more corrections to the name so that the next person can more easily locate someone. A majority were transcription errors like Lynde for Lynch, Coward for Conrad, Reilman for Keilman, Hauger for Hanger, Pam for Parr. If we all took the time to make corrections when we come across errors in the online census records , it would be a big help in enriching the data. In the meantime, we need to search creatively which is not always quick or easy.
