Lawrence, who has been doing business in hardware for years, closed up his establishment making an assignment to A. F. McNaughton for the benefit of his creditors. It is said that the liabilities of the concern are about $14,000, most of that is an old debt which Lawrence had been struggling under for years. The assets are about $3,000. Upon the greater part of this paper, Lawrence had been paying a heavy interest for years.
