    3. Salem (Indiana) Washington Democrat, July 10, 1857, page 3. ESTRAY. TAKEN up by James McCasky, on the 24th day of May 1857, in Franklin Township Washington County Indiana. Eleven miles east of Salem near the Salem and Charles town road--a light chestnut sorrel mare, supposed to be twenty years old about fifteen hands high, a white star in the forehead--a white spot on the back scared [sic] by the saddle, the right hind foot white, shod all round, no other marks perceivable--appraised to sixteen dollars by Robert K.
