Unlike many counties, Woodford has chosen to retain old records rather than to transfer them to IRAD (Illinois Regional Archives Depository, http://www.sos.state.il.us/depts/archives/data_loc.html). I've noticed that they also don't particularly appreciate the distraction of searching for us genealogists. If you needs records from neighboring counties and if those records are in the possession of IRAD, then you're in luck. I've found the folks at UI-Normal (that's where the records depository for East Central Illinois is located) to be very helpful and fairly prompt too. If you meet them half way with enough information for an intelligent search, they will go the extra mile and then some to help. When I asked for a copy of my gg grandfather's Declaration of Intent he tried several different ways to photocopy the document for the most readable results. All they charge is a nominal fee for copies. They're one of the biggest bargains going for Illinois research. Wayne Busby Lucerne, CA http://www.dnai.com/~waynejay/gen/genlinks/genlinks.htm
