They all look for the NEWS. This is the first week of the 20th century. The Woodman Order now has a membership of 558,444 [my note: or 338,444 - hard to read] James McGrail was a Rutland visitor Friday afternoon. J.H. Monk, of Benson, made the News a pleasant call yesterday. John Weldenman from Benson was here visiting friends from Saturday till Sunday. Mrs Husseman arrived home Wednesday from a visit in Peoria with her daughter. Mr and Mrs Joseh Erbland and daughter Louise, spent New Year's Day in Roanoke. Ralph, son of Mr and Mrs N.L. Davison, Jr., is confined to the house this week by illness. Miss May Andrews, who is teaching in the Roanoke public schools, spent the holidays at home. Charles H. Wessel, of Roanoke, was in town on business Saturday and made the News a pleasant call. Walter Grant who lives near Wenona, visited in Lincoln Ill. the past week, returning home Wednesday. Mr and Mrs S.E. Hilsabeck and family and Mrs Clarence McDonough attended the marriage of Frank Hilsabeck in Forrest New Year's Day. J. F. Sturgeion and Hon. I.B. Hammers of El Paso have formed a partnership for the practice of law. Hugh Coughlin spent Suncday in Springvalley. T. C. Henson went to Bloominton Monday. Miss Glen Barnhard came up from Benson Friday. Mrs C. E. Dunham is sick with the grip this week. Mr and Mrs David McCue spent Sunday in Benson. Miss Mary Fitzgerald was down with the lagrippe last week. Prof. R.A. Beebe returned to his home in Momenee last Friday. Joe Whitmore spent the past week in Chicago visiting relatives. R.A. Crawford, the livery man, made a trip to Benson Monday. Willie Tucker went to Pekin on a visit Friday, returning Saturday. Miss Mathis went to Benson Saturday evening to visit friends. Mr and Mrs Fred David, of Amboy, are visiting friends in this city. Conrad, the small son of Mr and Mrs Conrad Bonk, has the scarlet fever. Editor Von Nordheim, of the Register was in Streator Monday on business. F. J. Simater was laid up with the la grippe a day or two the first of the week. Mrs Charles Sengpiel is visiting friends and relatives at English, Orange Co, Indiana. E. G. Rithmiller of Pontiac spent Sunday in Minonk with Dr E.A. Wilcox and family. The Ladies Aid Society of the Methodist church met with Mrs Mary Bates Wednesday. The Ladies Aid Society of the Methodist church will meet tomorrow with Mrs Samuel Rogers.
