    3. Thought I would share a little of this with all of you Woodford County researchers. Cora Rowan Jinnings was my great aunt. The "Charley" she mentions was Charles H. Rowan, my grandfather. The diaries were written in 1887 and 1888, while she was a Normal School student and teacher in Woodford County. If you want, I'll share more from time to time. Ellen Rowan Taylor Cora Rowan b March 5, 1868. Married Forrest Jinnings Mar 5 1890, died September 17 1945. She was 19, and a student at Normal School in Normal Illinois when she wrote the first of 2 yearly diaries. 1887 Sat Jan 1 1887 Went to town to day to start for Normal. Train delayed, so came back home to wait till Monday. John Ward called to bid me good bye. Have been home from Normal two weeks and have had a very enjoyable holiday. Went to carpet rag sewing and dance at Mollie's Dec 28. and party at Mr. Bullock's last night- Christmas eve had a Christmas tree at Panther Creek. Got a ring from Pa. Aunt Addie and Pa eat turkey at Mrs. Tailor's. Sun Jan2 22º below. Rain Spent the day at Mrs. Emery's.Called on Charley Emery. Wet and rainy all day. 24º below. Staid at home and read most all day. Charley went for first time to Mollie's. Miss Whittaker called to night. Bought some new books.
