Waite went to Peoria last Friday afternon, return home Saturday -- Mrs Peter Haas, sr, went to visit a sick brother in Chatsworth this morning, to be gone a couple of days. -- Mrs D.H. Hanna went to Bloomington Monday morning, where she spent the day, returning home in the evening -- C.M.Westcott spend New Years here with friends, return to Chicago Monday. -- Mrs Dr. G.K. Bear and little daughter, of Watseka, are visiting the former's sister, Mrs Blanche Abrahame, in Pittsburg this week -- Mr and Mrs Bert Davis and sone went to Bloomington Saturday afternoon, where they remained over Sunday visiting relatives and friends -- Mrs Valentine Houseworth and daughter, Miss Nellie, went to Chillicothe, Ohio, last Friday evening for a two or three weeks visit with relatives. -- Mrs C.M. Westcott left today for Piper City for a few day's visit, going from there to Stuttgart, Ark for an extended visit with her niece, Mrs Carl Denslow -- Mr and Mrs J.M. Reeves went down to Centralia last Friday for a week's visit with Mrs Reeves' sister, Mrs Kurth. D. Dunn is staying the store during Mr. Reeves' absence -- Chris Schwitters was in Peoria Monday -- Jasper Gilmore, of Gridley, was here Tuesday -- Miss Della Potter went to Chicago last Monday -- Miss Sarah Gough visited in Bloomington last Tuesday -- E.G. Schafer, of Leroy, was here Wednesday afernoon -- W.C. Lee was over from Gridley Wed on business -- James Pleasants was a business caller in Peoria Monday afternoon -- The YWCA will meet with Mrs AM.A. Adams Friday evening -- Dr. F.H. Langhorst, of Elgin, came yesterday for a couple of days' visit -- Miss Martha Worman visited with home folks in Wenona Tuesday afternoon -- The little son of Mr and Mrs Joseph Fulton is very ill with pneumonia -- I.D. Oster was in Eureka Monday, and Mrs Oster was in Peoria the same day -- Miss Ada Campbell returned last Monday evening from a week's visit in Peoria -- Bernie O'Niel came over from Kentland today to see his mighter who is ill -- Fred Herr returned Tuesday from Chicago, where he had been with a load of cattle -- Mrs J.S. Evans and Mrs Dr R.E. Gordon were Bloomington callers Monday afternoon -- Archie Nethercott went over to Peoria Wednesday to visit Mr and Mrs John Schlink -- Mrs B.E. Swartz went down to Bloomington Tuesday to visit her sons, Ralph and Verne -- The five hundred club members were entertained by Mr and Mrs J.A. Smith last Friday evening -- Ed Hodgson, E.F Murray and F.M. Taylor have consignments of horses at the Bloomington sale this week -- A son was born to Mr and Mrs George Groenwald Monday morning. This is their first boy and they jubilant -- Mrs Anna Kirkpatrick visited in Peoria Tuesday, and yesterday was in Minonk to see her sister, Mrs E. M. Hodgson -- Mrs Albert Dorsey went to Peoria Saturday to be at the bedside of her aunt, Mrs Margaret Bradley, who is quite ill -- Mrs Fred Crane went to Peoria Tuesday morning to visit her mother, Mrs Anna Geef, returning home Wednesday -- Miss Marie Finn returned to her school at Notre Dame, Ind, last Monday, after a several weeks' visit with her sister, Mrs Richard Berry -- George Beale was called to Spencerville, Ohio, Monday morning to attend the funeral of his brother, Jesse, who death occurred Sunday -- Mrs S. Roles came up from Bloomington today to attend the W.R.C and G.A.R. installation tonight and to renew old acquaintances here -- Mr and MRs Will Bane, of Remington, Ind were guests of Mr and Mrs W.F.Mohr last Friday evening. They were on their way home from a visit in Dixon -- F.B. Schafer got in several cars of ten inch ice from Dixon this week and has been storing it in his houses. -- James Blackmore, of Paxton, came Saturday for a visit with his brother, Albert, and other relatives in this vicinity. -- Marion, little daughter of Mr and Mrs L.K. Evans, whose illness has been previously mentioned in these columns, is no better, and Mr Evans expects to take her to Chicago tonight for treatment -- Otis Shoemaker, of Fairbury, was here calling on old friends and acquaintances Monday,coming up from Kappa, where he had been to see his parents, Mr and Mrs Al Shoemaker, who have been sick the past week with the grip -- J.G. Baker went to Washington DC last Tuesday in response to an invitation to attend the banquet of the NAtional Tariff Commission, given Jan 12 at the New Willard hotel. -- Frank Reichardt visited in Bloomington this afternoon -- Vane Bosworth was p from the Wesleyan law school last Sunday to visit home folks -- Mrs J.J Demotte entertained a small company of ladies at bridge whist last Wednesday evening --Mr and Mrs Henry Wilkey came down from Benson today to take up their residence in their new home in this city -- Tuesday, being Mrs Ida Carlin's birthday, a few of her friends and neighbors called and gave her a very pleasant surprise in the evening. -- Mrs Edit Carlock, of Carlyle, Mont, was a guest of her cousin, Mrs William Kridnew, Monday afternoon. -- On Wed, Dec 28, at the home of Mr and Mrs Frank Jones was held a family reunion and birthday anniversary, it being the birthdays of Mrs Jones' father, William Bailey, and also of his son, Fred O. and daughter, Miss Ida, all of their birthdays coming in on the same day --Last Tuesday evening Mr and Mrs J.B. michels entertained the Men's Birthday Club, the event being a very enjoyable one. -- Tom Cleary attended the funeral of a cousin in Chicago this week -- Mrs Frank Hayward and children came up from Bloomington Tuesday and are visiting her sister, MRs W.H. Pleasant, who has been quite ill for some time -- Edmund Vivian went to Henry Sunday afternoon, after a few days' visit with his aunt and cousin, Mrs H.I. Shur and Miss Belle, where he will visit a few days with his parents, before returning to his home in LA, CA -- Mr and Mrs Bert Strickland went to their home in Indiana last Friday, after a visit here with his uncle, C.I. Strickland, and other relatives. The young couple was married at the bride's home in Crown Point, Ind just bbefore the holidays, since which time they have been spending their honeymoon with the groom's grandmother, Mrs Jesse Plackett, in Peoria, and relatives here. the bride was formerly Miss Louise Hayden, while the goom is the son of T.F. Strickland, formerly a resident here but now living in Indiana. Wedding at Benson ----------------- Wed morning at 6:30, in the Catholic Church in Benson the marriage of Martin Kelly and Miss Fronie Vogel was celebrated. F.R. Generos performed the ceremony and celebrated nupial mass. The couple left on the morning train for Chicago . On their return they will reside on the Manley place near here. Death of J.T. Morris -------------------- James T. Morris was born in Rosefield twp, Peoria County, on July 28 1842 and died at his home in Eden, Ill, Jan 4 1911. Mr Morris was married to Martha Ellen Holt 11-19-1868 . Mr Morris was one one of the early settlers of Woodford county, locating in Panola the year following his return from the war. (there is more if anyone is interested) Found Dead ---------- The community was startled this noon to learn that Mrs Bridge Carrol, relict of the late Michael Carrol, had been found dead in bed by one of the neighbors. (there is more) O'Rourke-Kearney Wedding ------------------------ At 8:30 Wed morning at Holy Trinity church in Bloomington was celebrated the marriage of Miss Mary O'Rourke to Mr Danile Kearney, of El Paso. Guests present were Mrs C. Kearney, Mrs Bert Lemon, Mr and Mirs Timothy Enright, Timothy Kearney, Miss Gertrued Kearney.
