    3. On The POORHOUSE STORY (a clearinghouse for information about 19th century American poorhouses) at http://www.poorhousestory.com we are extremely happy to have just posted the list of poorhouse holdings in the IRAD system of the Illinois State Archives. This is a very comprehensive list of an extensive collection of poorhouse records. And for even more excitement(!) .... there is a searchable name index for those Almshouse Registers for the following counties: BROWN, MERCER, OGLE, STARK and WOODFORD. Go to the homepage (link above) and click on POORHOUSES BY STATE, then click on OTHER STATES, then on ILLINOIS in the table of states. Be sure to click REFRESH on your browser when you get to the Illinois page. Then scroll way down until you find the section on the page for Records. It is marked with a yellow NEW arrow. Just click on the word .. table ... which is a link to take you there. Hope this is helpful! Linda Crannell (aka=The Poorhouse Lady)
