Scans of Greene Twp, Woodford Co, are now ready to go. For those of you who are new to the list (and I'm adding this because a few have had questions about these scans), I have scanned plat maps of various townships in Woodford Co from old atlases that I've managed to get my hands on. I send these maps as email attachments to anyone who requests them. I'm trying to share what I have the best way I know how. It's my small way of trying to repay others for the lookups and other help they have given me over the years. I have plat maps of the following townships for the years 1873, 1893, 1912, 1920: Clayton, Greene, Linn (only the years 1912 and 1920), Metamora, Minonk, Olio, Palestine, Roanoke and Worth. Send me a post telling me which maps you would like and I'll get them to you. On Sunday I'll be leaving for the beach (ahhhhhhh) and will be there at least a week so if you want the scans before I go please get mail to me by Saturday evening. Otherwise, they will have to wait until I get back. Amy Robbins-Tjaden atjaden@mindspring.com
Hi-- I scanned the maps for Palestine Twp and can send maps for the following years to anyone who is interested: 1873, 1893, 1912, 1920 The 1873 scan is not pretty as the map didn't quite fit on my scanner bed and I had to fiddle and faddle and finally just figured I'd done the best I could do...if anyone needs me to put a beady eye on the original page for a specific name, I'll be glad to do that. Amy Robbins-Tjaden atjaden@mindspring.com
For those of you interested in Minonk, I just found a webpage dedicated to that town that looks like it's off to a good start. The home page is at http://www.minonktalk.com/ . From there you can find links to old photos, articles about old settlers and the history of the town, Chatter Box (short bits about local residents like you find in small town newspapers), Cemetery pages, and plenty more. If it doesn't help, genealogically speaking, it's at least a fun Saturday morning read. If anyone knows of any similar websites for any Woodford Co towns/communities, I'd appreciate getting the URLs. Amy Robbins-Tjaden atjaden@mindspring.com
Hi-- If anyone is interested, I can now send scans of the following plat maps for the years indicated: Minonk Twp 1873, 1893, 1912, 1920 Olio Twp 1873, 1893, 1912, 1920 Some of the scans are better than others. One day I might be a computer/scanning whiz...but not today. Amy Robbins-Tjaden atjaden@mindspring.com

Oh, yes...there is also the 'indexing challenge' game... McNeff Mc Neff Mc_Neff Mc*Neff Mc-Neff MacNeff Mac Neff Mac_Neff Mac*Neff Mac-Neff This should keep you busy for a while...are there other possibilities? (no doubt) And, of course, the indexer may have thought it said McMeff or McWeff or heaven only knows what. When the error is in the first letter, you have only 25 other ones to check. Computer searching, particularly, is a challenge because the silly machine just won't look up all the possibilities without specific instruction to do each one. Sometimes I have better luck if I can figure out a way to see a whole page/section of 'the right general area' and then use my eyes to skim thru. Kristy
I've hit the "brickwall" as far as trying to locate my Great Grandmother's family in Woodford County from back in the early 1880's. Her name is Cathrine MCNEFF. Her parents were James MCNEFF and Bridget DUNN. I got this information from Cathrine's marriage license that shows she married my Great Grandfather Timothy O'CONNOR At St. Patrick RC Church in Peoria on 19 Nov 1884. Unfortunately I cannot locate any further information except that Cathrine was born in Cruger Township in Woodford County probably around 1860. I've searched state and federal censuses and some land records. And probably a lot of other stuff that I cannot recall right now. I've been stalled at this point for a few years now. I'd appreciate any help or suggestions that anyone might have. Thanks, Patrick O'Connor (pjoconnor@aol.com)
