Good Morning All, I am attempting to locate anyone with information on the following surnames in Woodford County around 1860 through 1885: O'CONNOR MCNEFF DUNN Thanks, Patrick O'Connor
What Brown's are you looking for? I have information on Archie Edward Brown who was married to Daisy M. (Vilven) Brown. They had 3 children Glen Vilven Brown, Vivian Viola Brown, and Archie Orville Brown. They were from Pontiac, Illinois. Cindy
My Woodford County connections: Surnames are GERTH, JONES, MISHLER, RUSH, DAY, BROWN. The time span seems to be most of the 1800's. I have no info on Naomi Jones, d. 6 Mar 1875, Eureka, IL. She was married to Samuel Mishler from Holmes Co. Ohio. My desperate plea for information on the Rush family got me the whole history of my Rush line back the the 14th century, England. THANKS EVERYBODY....Special thanks to AMY for putting up with me. sharon_moeller@hotmail.com Sharon K. Moeller

Good Sunny Sunday morning from Florida!! I too am looking for look-ups in Woodford Co., Illinois for 1860, possibly 1850. My two families there are: Jacob Roth, wife Mary and Louis and Anna. On 1880 census they are in Clayton Twnship(SD 4., ED 223, family#158.). Jacob was in business as" Roth and Gommels, General Merchandise, Benson, Illinois". The other family in same Twnship, family#163. They are Adam Eckhard, wife Anna and Jacob, Henry, Mary, Emma and Melia. Adam was born in Ohio so may not show up on 1860 census but perhaps 1870. ...tho' that still won't give us his parents unless one is living with them then. Living with the Jacob Roth family is Christian Roth, father, 56, born Prussia. Since Jacob is 25 in 1880 and born in Illinois, he might possibly be found with his parents on the 1860 Census. Worth a try if someone can do this. Thanks...all help always appreciated. Since my ancestry on my maternal side is 100% Ostfriesen, I've been working on compiling a list of people from the 1880 Federal census for Woodford Co who were born in Germany (best way I could narrow it down for my purposes). It's nearing completion and I will be happy to share it with anyone interested when I'm done with the project. I expect it will be about 25 pages long, give or take a few pages. It will be a Word document which I can send as an attachment. I think I can finish it in the next couple of days (before yet another beach trip). Let me know if you're interested in receiving it and I'll put your mail in a special folder and will send it when I'm done. This offer is not completely altruistic. I know if I offer it, I'd best get the job finished, so it's incentive for me. <grin> I have to include this because of past offers of mine that drew responses as to what I charge for what I offer...the answer, as always, is nothing. It's hard to find information about Woodford Co online and I'm doing what I can to help out with the resources I have. If anyone still need any lookups for family that weren't from Germany, let me know and I'll look them up on a one-to-one basis. Amy Robbins-Tjaden amy@tjaden.com
The 1880 United States census is available to all. This is a wonderful tool. I am a volunteer at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Family History Center in my area and have found much information about my family. The whole census is indexed by surname. The detailed family information is on the separate state CDs. A quote from our church's newletter follows: ------------ "The 1880 United States census is now available for the first time on CD -ROM, having been compiled by members of the Church after 17 years of labor. With this searchable database, family history researchers can view the late-19th-century census with 21st-century ease. In June 1880, 50,475,366 inhabitants of the 38 states and 8 territories were counted by census enumerators traveling on foot, horseback, and wagon. The information enumerators gathered is now easily searchable. The CD-ROM has been installed at many family history centers, which are open to the public." ---------------- To find the Family History Center near you go to familysearch.org. Dot from Indiana
Fred, I reseaved this. Esther
Fellow listers, Here’s an appeal to all of you to pull out the copies of the SSAN application forms you already have filed away in your "stuff" and post them at Rootsweb. I just did it for the ones I have and it’s really easy. :O) 1. Go to: http://www.rootsweb.com/ 2. Scroll down the home page to Social Security Death Index and click on it. 3. Enter the name of the person who is on the form you have into the search engine. 4. When the right entry comes up, go over to the far right and click on "Add Post-Em" link. 5. The "Fill in the blank" form will come up and you can type in the information just like it’s printed on the form you have in your hands! 6. Include all the information in the order that it is entered on the form, so that others have the advantage of all that information. NOTE: You don’t have to type in the SS Number for the person as the Rootsweb program includes it. Since the cost of these forms will be increasing substantially next week, it would be good if EVERYONE put out the information they already have. Then whoever else is searching for that same person won’t be required to pay the new price for the same form you have in your files. And vice-versa! If we all "plant seed," we’ll all get the crop! And thank Goodness for Rootsweb providing this service to all of us for FREE! Be well & God bless, Kate Beaugrand Cook Minnesota kbcook@cfaith.com or k.b.cook@worldnet.att.net
I just thought I would spread the word that the fees for getting a copy of a Social Security Application are going up drastically on 1 July 2001. If you apply before then you will be charged the old amount which is now $7 if you know the number, and $16.50 if you do not. The new fees are posted at: http://www.ssa.gov/foia/foia_guide.htm It appears that the increases are more than substantial, they are gigantic. This means that the time for procrastination is over. The address you need to send them to is: Social Security Administration Office of Central Records Operation Attention: Freedom of Information Workgroup PO Box 17772 300 N.
