I am looking for information on children of Friederich and Margaretha Grebner. Some of the girls (first names unknown to me) married William, John and Martin Fandel. One girl married a Volk. There were other girls and a boy. John who married Mary/Bertha Sutter.
Kim, There was one Strubhar listed but not much info. Strubhar, Sam''l., Real Estate, Eureka Don't know if there is a link but there are many Farney's in Tazewell County. Michele
Gene, A Kim Nichols contacted me as she saw my messages to you and asked that I let you know that she has information on the Waldschmidt's and to please contact her at nichols@nwlink.com Michele
M, While looking at the plat of Partidge township I did come across many many de Guibert. They were not listed in the reference but they owned a significant amount of land in Partridge and looks like they may have even subdivided it. I would be glad to make a copy for you if you would like to send me your address. Some of the names listed are as follows: L.A. De Guibert Lizzie de Guibert Rosa De Guibert Guy De Guibert C.P. De Guibert Clarence De Guibert Elizabeth De Guibert Seems funny that they're not listed in the Reference but I double checked and they are not. Michele
Gene, Forgot to tell you that if these Fandel's are of interest to you, my father also has some studio photos of some of them that could be copied. Looked at the plats and Conrad had 118 acres, John G. had 183 acres and Nick Jr. had 150 acres. Michele
Gene, There are several matches in the book for Gangloff, Waldschmidt, and Fandel so here goes! Gangloff, Henry, Farmer S.1, Township Partridge, PO Cazenovia Gangloff, George, Farmer and Machinery Operator, S.19 Township Metamora, PO Metamora. Mr. Gangloff was born in Woodford County in 1873. He is married to Susie A. Miller. Mr. Gangloff has served as School Director. Adams, Chas. Need to check with my Dad but I know Nick for sure was my gg uncle. Brother to Eva Fandel my grandmother's mother. Eva was married to John Valentine Schwenk. I probably have a fair amount of info on these Fandels if it is of use to you. If you would like copies of the photos, I can certainly do that if you would like to email me your address. Michele
Hi Dan Steffen, I do appreciate the wealth of information and sources to pursue you have given me----with a sense of humor thrown in. I hadn't looked up David McCutchen in the Illinois State Archives database yet and will do that first to avert any disasters. I was wondering if the County Court House in Eureka had burned down, some time in the past, also. They had no record of death certificates for John C. and Elizabeth Myers, and with my luck-----? You have been so helpful---Thanks. Sincerely, Pat Salyer Also, Thanks to"randc.hanneman" for the suggestion re; Information from the El Paso Library. I'll try it.
Hello All, Is there anyone on the list with access to the 1870, 1880, and/or the 1890 Census? I'd like to establish that this direct line family was indeed in Tazewell County during this period. This is information that has been passed down to me and I have no idea as to it's accuracy. Any help would be appreciated, from any source historical source. I have the 1860 Woodford Census transcription with index by the McLean County Genealogical Society. I'd be happy to help with lookups. Be sure to put "Woodford Census Lookup" in the subject line or the message might get missed. Many thanks in advance for any "random act of genealogical kindness!" Wayne Lucerne. Joe, The only match was for Blumenshine. It is as follows: Blumenshine, W.P. Farmer, S15, Cruger Township PO Eureka. Mr. Blumenshine was born in Woodford County in 1876. He is married to Lydie Vanbel. Mr. Blumenshine has served as Town Clerk. Hope this is a connection for you. There weren't any photos. Michele
Erika, There are no Attig's listed but there is one Bohlander. Bohlander, John, Land Owner, S.36, Partridge Township PO Cazenovia It looks like he owned at least 280 acres on the Partridge Township plat. There is also a photo of a beautiful large home entitled Residence of John Bohlander. Do you think this is part of your family???
Kermit, No listing for either one of these names. I did scan the El Paso plat and did not see them there either. Michele
Kristy, Not boring at all!!! I love Woodford County. My family wasn't really all that prominent...lots of "hooligans" in it but Woodford County seemed to be a pretty rough place at times in the early 1900's. My ggggrandfather, George Kerker helped settle the county so my family goes way back. Just in case anyone is researching the same lines...my family is: Kerker Birkner Schwenk Fandel And pretty much related in some way or the other to many many Woodford County people! Michele
Harold, There are no Fishers or Nicholas's listed in the book. This book has only one "index" and it reads "Patrons' Reference Directory of Woodford County Illinois. It may be that it is not a complete reference of everyone in Woodford County at the time. Also, my father tells me that he is sure that this was published closer to 1910 than the date I stated.
Steve, The book lists a V.J. DeBolt, Farmer in Cazenovia. Cazenovia is a tiny place right outside of Washburn. Any connection? No photos of him. Michele
Steve, Was their last name Deboldt??? Michele
Kristy, Sorry I did not find any Hills and doublechecked Brunt and didn't see that either. I did a quick scan for brick kilns in the photos and didn't see any. I'll have to ask my Dad about that...he remembers most everything about Woodford County. It's wonderful that you're doing this research for your children! Michele
M, The book shows an A.J. Wolpert. He is listed as follows: Wolpert, A.J. Fruit Dealer and Farmer S.14,T. Spring Bay, P.O. Peoria, RFD #35 There is a plat of Spring Bay showing his land but I searched through the photos and didn't find anything else. If you would like a copy of the plat map I would be glad to copy it and send it to you if you would like you can email your address to me privately. I'm glad if I can help anyone with this book as it is pretty precious to me and I'm lucky because I came across it quite by accident about 8 years ago at an antique mall and it has several photos of my ancestors farms! Michele
To the list: I have an old Standard Atlas Woodford County Illinois. The first few pages are missing so I'm not sure of the publication date but whoever owned it wrote gardening and farming records in it fro 1926 on. It is full of info and photos and I would be glad to look up family info and make copies for anyone who is interested! Michele Birkner
Re: the situation with the El Paso library, maybe if you make it easy for them, they might help. Try sending a letter explaining your needs, include a s.a.s.e. and a check made out to the library with the amount left blank, but marked, not good for more than $10.00. It is worth a try..
