I am really glad to hear from everyone who responded about the census -- I've learned a couple of things that I want to pass on: 1) Someone told me that if you received the "short" form, and want to fill out the "long" form, you could go to this Web address and request the "long" one: http://www.census.gov/dmd/www/infoquest.html However, when I went to the site, I discovered that the forms there are "for informational purposes only" -- i.e., not to fill out. So far as I can discover, you get the form you get in the mail, and you can either fill it out or wait for a follow-up enumerator to come get the info from you. But I can't tell whether the follow-up enumerator will merely ask for the "short" info or the "long" info. 2) There is a FAQ about all the issues raised by people (race, the govt's general noseyness, tax dollars, rural vs. urban, why you should fill out the forms in the first place, etc) at this address: http://www.census.gov/dmd/www/faqquest.htm 3) On the Census website, it says that about 1 in every 6 households receives the long form for the year 2000.
