Does anyone remember the name of a little Italian bakery west of downtown Herrin and a little north of the railroad track? I remember going there with my grandparents to get the most wonderful Italian bread when I was young. The bakery was in the front, but you went in the side door to get the fresh loaves of bread. The bakery closed probably sometime in the 1960s, when the owner died. I heard that he didn't reveal the recipe for the bread to anyone, so it was never made anymore. I've only found one bread since then that even slightly compares. Thanks. Susan
