    3. Is anyone on this list working on Mathew LEDBETTER who lived in Caldwell County, Kentucky; Southern Illinois and Desha County, Arkansas? I am trying to determine if a child identified as 'Marion' in the John N. Ledbetter's biography in "Biographical Review of Johnson, Massac, Pope and Hardin Counties, Illinois" could possibly have been 'Mary Ann'. I have not yet requested Mathew LEDBETTER's probate from the 1850 Desha County Arkansas records, but thought someone on this list might know. If she is not the daughter of Mathew LEDBETTER, she may be his granddaughter through his son, Wiley Ledbetter For 2 decades I have been looking for Mary Ann LEDBETTER's parents, and each time the facts take me back to Mathew and Rachel LEDBETTER as her parents or paternal grandparents. Following is my Mary Ann LEDBETTER's information: MARY ANN LEDBETTER 1.) My Mary Ann was born 1842 in Illinois, per 1860 Massac County, Illinois Census where she appears with her husband, John T. MORSE. This matches the info in the "Biographical Review" which states that Mathew LEDBETTER moved to Illinois in 1842. 2.) Have not located Mathew LEDBETTER's family on the 1850 Desha County, Arkansas Census, but understand it appears on page 71A. Does anyone have access to this? I only have Heritage Quest and it doesn't cover 1850. My Mary Ann Ledbetter cannot be found on the 1850 Illinois Census. The Mary Ann Ledbetter who is living in Hardin County cannot be my Mary Ann Ledbetter as she is married to a different man. The 1850 Census for Hopkins County, Kentucky (right next to Caldwell County, KY where Mathew LEDBETTER had lived) shows a "Mary V. Leadbetter", born 1842. This Mary V. Leadbetter is shown as the d/o Wiley (b1822 Ky, merchant) and Nancy Leadbetter. This Wiley may be the son of Matthew Ledbetter 3.) Mary Ann Ledbetter married 23 August 1857, Massac County, to John T. Morse who was born in Caldwell County, Kentucky where Mathew LEDBETTER had lived. Her husband died in the Civil War, 28 Dec 1863 Natchez, Miss. 4.) Children: Cordelia "Della" Morse, born 7 May 1858, Massac County, Ill. married Jasper N. Stephenson, lived in Boaz, Massac County, IL Sarah Francis Morse, born 28 Feb 1861, Massac County, Ill. married John Ward, lived in the Grand Chain / Karnak area of Pulaski County, IL 5.) She marries second, Carroll Johnson Young, 15 July 1866, Williamson County, Illinois. Pension applications regarding the children of John T. Morse are filed with the federal government and confirm family relationships for two generations. 6.) Mary Ann Ledbetter Morse Young Dies 30 May 1870, Williamson County, Illinois. 7.) Custody battles for the two children begin, between the step-father, Carrol Johnson Young, and the paternal uncle, Drury C. Morse of Massac County. Drury C. Morse wins and is awarded guardianship. Children return to Massac County. Is anyone else working on Wiley, Mathew or Mary Ann Ledbetter? Debbie Ward McArdle
