In looking at some of the emails that I get related to the Williamson County list, I see many that come through with little or no specific information. Are we doing our own research? Or are we depending on those who have done research to share that with us? Research takes time and yes even money. No one wants to put in all that work only to have someone else use that information in an article without their permission. I have corresponded with many people who refuse to have their research posted to a site because there are always going to be those few who think that a couple of well placed questions and someone elses hard work THEY get credit for the genealogy they have published. Well folks thats not how it works. Genealogy is about detective work, its about sharing, its about dead ends and brick walls. It is not however about using people. I think we need to all be very careful about placing well worded informative queries. Those of us who are researching are beginnin! g to see which ones are doing the foot work and which ones are sitting back waiting for that text or gedcom to come in.
