They had at least two children: Cora CARTER and Albert CARTER. James and family are in 1880 census of Alexander Co., IL. Josephine CARTER b. 11 Feb 1857 in Union Co., IL. married Thomas Hugh MCKINNIS on 13 Jun 1877 in Williamson Co., IL. He was the son of Joshua MCKINNIS and Mary Ramsey. He was born abt 1856 in IN. Their children were: John Joshua, George L, Sherman, Stella, Nelle May, William Jackson, Clara, Carroll and Hampton. Wade Hampton CARTER b. 17 Dec 1855 in Monroe Co., KY. married Leah Emeline JACKSON, (1st cousin), on 23 May 1875 in Monroe Co., KY. Wade and Leah migrated back to IL around 1881 or so. Children are Serena Carter and others that are unknown at this point. Wade is said to have died by 1900 in Stoddard Co., MO. Alice S. CARTER b. 17 Jul 1867 in Williamson Co., IL. married William Allen BRADSHAW on 28 Mar 1886 in Williamson Co., IL. William was the son of Jacob BRADSHAW and Elizabeth LEMLEY. He was born 9 Aug 1867 in Union Co., IL and died 17 Oct 1924. Alice died 10 May 1894 in Union Co., IL and is buried in Williamson Co., IL in Oak Cemetery. Children are: Sarah Angeline, Francis, Hosea S., Catherine, Walter B. and others.... Priscilla CARTER b. abt 1811 in Jackson Co., TN. never married but, had at least three children. One of which is Alsie CARTER-BAKER. We also suspect that Ruth CARTER-York was her daughter. Priscilla died between 1870 and 1880. James C. CARTER b. abt 1832 in Jackson Co., TN. married Melinda J. HASTEN on 31 Dec 1860 in Union Co., IL. Known children are: Nellie and Bertie. Samuel R. MILLER b. abt 1824 in TN. married Winnie[?] surname unk but, beleive she was a CARTER.
