    1. Re: [ILWILLIA] families with ties to Creakl Springs
    2. Lorraine, Although, I was born in Chicago, my father was raised in rural Creal Springs, IL and I went to school a few years at the grade school before moving to Peoria, IL. When I was a child in the 50's, Creal Springs was a very nice small town with wonderful old buildings that housed four grocery stores, Holmes, Beltz(Kroger), Waters and one other one. It also had a skating rink, drug store, general merchandise store, lumber yard, post office, several service stations, etc. The town at that time was kept very clean and neat and the people of that generation took great pride in their home and places and town. Of course, like any town of then and today, there were a few places that weren't as nice, due to the fact of older people living in them and not capable of caring for their places the way they should be. But there again, other people in town would help each other more than today. It was a nice small community to raise children. When I went through there a couple years ago, I was saddened, to see the way things were. Also, you may be reconizing address from Creal of people that live around the lake. They too, have an address of Creal. Thanks, Linda Holmes White SURNAMES: WHITE, HOLMES, TANNER, UPCHURCH, HENSHAW, TURNER, GULLEY
