Your reply was fine. However, it is common practice to not copy the previous mail unless it is related to your post. I have copied all of your mail to show you the result. Angela's post had nothing to do with your's yet it got resent to the list - with the close of the list repeated also. If you delete the previous mail, or at least the unneeded parts it is helpful to others, particularly if they are doing a quick scan for useful information. The importance of the subject line, and even the information sent is that many folks get upwards of 100 emails a day and they sort them for deletion by subject. The ones they keep, it is often useful to be able to read quickly on the first round. With a good subject line and useful info, there is a better chance of getting a useful response from someone, rather than it getting lost or deleted. The surname of interest is proper as you did it. In your case, the dates would have been too restrictive. If there had been an appropriate date, then it is good to add that. That was what Angela was getting at and you followed it fine. I looked through my database and did not find your Thompson, or other names. Sorry on that. Hope someone else had your names.
