It's been fun reading the posts about relatives in Williamson County. My father, Ned Walker, was born in Carterville and his father, Ira Walker was born near Marion. He left the area because he knew that he didn't want to farm or mine coal. He still has one brother left down in Ziegler. We also have Spillers in our family - my great grandfather, J.B. Walker's first wife was a Spiller. Other family names includes: Herrin/g, McAlpin, Moore, Reed, Sanders. I've been to Williamson County to do research or visit family - I love the area. I especially love to go visit the ol' folks resting at the old Cemetery in Herrin and the McAlpin Cemetery out in the field. I just love to visit 'grandpa' Hugh.
