Remember too (if you're not from the area) that the weekly newspaper The Spokesman is a possibility too; it covers Herrin / Carterville / JC area. I didn't know if it would be appropriate to put on the list, but we have card files at the WCHS with the obits from the Marion Daily Republican and The Southern Illinoisan. We started keeping them in 1986 (approx.) with a few years missing in between, our obit lady passed away and it was a while before someone else picked up the work, to the present day 2001. We also copy old ones when we find them in our files or some kind soul brings in their box of old ones they had collected for their family or out of a family Bible and let's us copy them. Scrap books are also a good source. So they aren't all 1986 and up, but most are. If they will send a SASE and $1.00 we will send them a copy of the obit if we have it, or their dollar back if we don't. Thanks for your attention to this, and give me a holler anytime I can be of help. As Always, Charla Visit the Williamson Co. Historical Society <www.thewchs.com>
