    1. Researching Surnames McGUIRE, HAYS/HAYES, KAYES, ALPIN
    2. To: Researchers in Franklin and Williamson Counties, IL My great grandmother was Mamie "Mommie" E. McGUIRE (nee HAYES), b: 01 April 1883, d: March 1981. She lived in Marion, Williamson County, IL. Her siblings were George HAYES, Charley HAYES, Ben HAYES, Maggie HAYES, Arthur HAYES. Their parents (my great, great grandparents) were Sarah J. KAYES and James A. HAYS (an alternate spelling of "HAYES"), Jr., who married on Jan. 27, 1876, in Franklin County, IL. I have not seen a copy of this marriage license, but I understand that it can be found at the Franklin County Court Records on Film # 1005304 - 1005310 or in Volume 03B, page 0243. Since I live out of state, I have not looked up this marriage license. I am wondering if it would state the bride's and groom's parents' names. I believe that one of the parents of Sarah J. KAYES or James A. HAYS/HAYES, Jr. was a full-blooded Native American (possibly Cherokee from KY or TN) and am trying to locate the name of this Native American. I do not know the names of Sarah KAYES' parents. James A. HAYES/HAYS, Jr.'s parents were J. A. HAYES (b: 1822, d: 21 June 1903) and Nancy ALPIN (b: 1834, d: 20 January 1879). Does anyone go back further than this? Thanks very much, Maggie Kinney Texas
