Betty, Whom are you looking for in Bolton? I possibly may have them in my data base. Linda HOLMES, HENSHAW, TURNER, TANNER, UPCHURCH, WHITE, GULLEY
Hi, They charged me $2.00. I thought it was good. I had paid either $5. or $8. for mom and dad's marriage certicate. That was in Saline Co. however. How are you? S
Sharon, I am here and love hearing about So. IL as my parents were from the Creal Springs/Stonefort, IL area. My husband raised in Marion. And, I am related to the Deatons. I know what you mean about the list. I haven't been getting anything since I changed servers and e-mail address, but you came through. Thanks Linda HOLMES, HENSHAW, TANNER, WHITE, GULLEY, TURNER, UPCHURCH
It's been a little quiet for awhile and was good to hear from you all. I was born and raised in good old Williamson County. Even though I no longer live there it remains dear to my heart. Do you all remember how Jerry Mullins enjoyed reminiscing about Marion? He shared many memories with all of us. Mary Jo --------------------------------- How low will we go? Check out Yahoo! Thank you. My mom and her beauty shop were well known in Marion. Mom went to CA at 17 and attended beauty school (1927). She came back and had to go to West Frankfort to beauty school to get her IL license (1928). I have them both hanging on my wall. We spent everyone weekend in Marion and went to church at the Methodist Church that is close to downtown. We bought tamales from Bennie when he had a horse and wagon to sell them from. So. Court was cobblestone then and I can hear the horse and wagon when I concentrate. We ate regularly at their restaurant when it opened. I forgot our other relatives there. Clyde and Pauline Spiller were cousins. Pauline was the daughter of Henry and Texi Waters also. They had three children, Susan, Clyda, and Tom. I think Tom still lives in the area. Sharon
I'm here. I made a trip to Williamson Co. Historic Society and used their library. I also must say that the court house has the most reasonable price for copies of death certificates of anyplace I've been. I was picking up Deaton information for my aunt. My grandparents lived on So. Court St. next to Fox's Flowers. They owned Waters Market, also on So. Court. My mother had Freeda's Beauty Shop was above it. This was from abut 1923-1951. Mom's beauty shop wasn't open till about 1928. The store burned later..........not sure of the date. My grandmother, Daisy Waters, moved to Pope Co. around 1951-52. Traveling salesmen mostly stayed at what they called a tourist home. Other relatives there were Henry and Texi Waters, Dorothy and Linda Spencer. You didn't ask all this, did you. You just asked if someone was there. Sharon
Would anyone out there know of any cemetery's in the pre 1800 to 1840"s in the williamson , saline, pope county areas. My family lived in Stonefort Illionis and several family members were buried in the Old Bolton cemtery but there are still several people I am looking for that died in the early part of the 1800's. Thanks Betty BETTY --------------------------------- Yahoo! Messenger with Voice. Make PC-to-Phone Calls to the US (and 30+ countries) for 2¢/min or less.
Sharon, how much did they charge for a death cert? When I was at the court house I paid $5. That was the highest I had seen. Do you have a number for the WCHS? And whether it works any day except Thurs when they're open? Betty FL I'm here. I made a trip to Williamson Co. Historic Society and used their library. Just wanted to let the list know that there is currently a photo up for sale on EBAY, 2 days left on the listing of 1919 Pleasant Grove School, Williamson County, Illinois. Hope someone can give this a good home! Kate (Taylor) Rodenbach
Hello, I just received word this morning from the printers concerning my new book, The Bloody Vendetta of Southern Illinois. It's now scheduled to ship Sept. 8, which I realize is later than I originally thought it would be. For those of you who pre-ordered know that the padded envelopes are already labeled and stuffed with the packing slips. All that's left is for me to autograph the books and insert them inside. They should go out within 24 hours after the books arrive and likely the same day. Since the books aren't quite here yet, I'm extending the pre-order special pricing another week through Sept. 7. Order before the books arrive and you will pay only the cover price. I'll cover the shipping and handling as well as the sales tax for Illinois residents. The book is an expansion of Milo Erwin's original 1876 account of the family feuding and Klan activity in Southern Illinois during the 1870s. To find more information on the 240-page, 6 x 9, paperback, or to order, go to www.IllinoisHistory.com/books/BloodyVendetta.html. Calling all Walkers. We've recently had a interesting twist to a Walker DNA test and if you are interested in watching the drama unfold, get in touch with me. Our Walkers connect to Matthew Moore Walker in Williamson county. I'd also be interested in hearing about Walkers who descend from others Walker lines. Please explain them to me. We are starting to realize that our Walker family was larger than we originally thought it was. Mary Ann --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Everyone is raving about the all-new Yahoo! Hello, Would anyone here know if criminal records from the 1870's still existed and if they did where I could go to get copies? Thanks, Audrey
I am looking for a Melissa Louisa/Louise Barber/Barger, born about 1818-1820. I have seen Melissa's last name written both ways, if she was a Barger, I think that may mean she might be a Shufflebarger. Melissa married Wm. C. Elms in 1838 in Union Co., Ill. If anyone can help, please let me know. Thanks, Audrey
