    3. My great-great grandparents of my maternal grandmother were John and Lizzie (Borum) White from Creal. They are buried at Fairview Baptist Cemeter. They at one time lived just up the hill from the springs. Wonder if there is a connection there to this White. 3. Since this thread has changed from "where is everybody" back to some actual genealogy, perhaps you folks responding should change the subject line? I'll bet a lot of these have been deleted unread by those of us who don't have time to read "I'm not getting emails" messages. Just a suggestion. 3. Linda, I noticed in the surnames you're connected to the names WHITE and TURNER. I have a child married into the WHITE family and a very dear friend who is a TURNER from the Dykersburg area. Mr. Turner has found a very old photo that is believed to be either a TURNER family or possibly a HARRIS family photo (the TURNER's and HARRIS' are connected) that we are trying to identify. Mr. Turner said his wife knew who the portrait subjects were but his wife passed away nearly six years ago and left no info on or with the portrait. So if you, or anyone reading this has a connection to both the TURNER and HARRIS families from the Dykersburg/Stonefort/Carrier Mills area and would be interested in seeing this photo, please let me know and I will get a shot of it and send an email to you w/the attachment. Mr. Turner would really like to know who the people in the portrait are. Thanks! Robin Robin's PhotoGraphics http://www.robinsphotographics.com > Sharon, > I am here and love hearing about So. 1. [ILWILLIA] Williamson County Boy
    2. Rainman
    3. Hi all, I'm TERRY WAYNE RAINS, but born Terry Wayne GLENN at Herrin Hospital in 1951. Grew up in Williamson Co., went to school at Sunnyside elementary and Northside School when it was a big old brick 2 or 3 story building. I remember it's long hallways and shiny floors. A wooden chair that used to sit out in the hallway where we used to get the "board of education" when we were not behaving. The New Era Dairy was at the north end of Park Ave. I remember it because my mom, who was LORAINE LEEHY, daughter of JAMES FRANKLIN LEEHY and PAULINE HOLLAND, (my grandparents) took me shopping there many times. I fondly remember "Elsie" the talking cow, who stood on her hind legs and held a tray with a carton of milk on it. When you stepped onto the mat in front of it, it would talk to you. If you went out West Monroe to 28th Street and took that North a couple of blocks to W. Tyler It went out to 32nd street near where I grew up. My grandmother was remarried to JOHN LLOYD GLENN, who was a coal miner at the time, as Grandpa LEEHY died in 1940. I guess this is where I got the GLENN surname, even though my mother was never formally adopted by him that I can find. Grandpa LLOYD, was later well known around the area as the caretaker of the Norge Washing Machine Company dump, which was east of Energy amongst some old strip mines there. This was following an accident which disabled his leg at the mines. He like many others, also collected his "Black Lung" pension later. He stripped precious scrap metals out of the dump for a living, an early recycler, one might say. Grandpa LLOYD died in his sleep in OCT 1977. I was notified when I sent him a Christmas card from overseas where I was stationed in the Air Force was returned to me with a note from a nearby neighbor. I had written him that I was coming home for a visit over the holidays. He had already been buried and any of his personal photos, letters, etc., had been disposed of by people that didn't know how to get in touch with any of his relatives. Much family history was lost with him. My stepfather, JAMES W. RAINS (JW), married my mother not long after I was born. His parents were JAMES C. (Ceborn/Seborn) RAINS and BARBARA ESTELLE MARGRAVE. The RAINS clan was mostly from the West Frankfort area and Crab Orchard. But some lived for a time in Herrin near W. Oak and 20th St., as I recall. I remember fondly Camario's Bakery on W. Monroe, it always smelled so good walking by there. I did a short run selling the Grit Newspaper, but I was pretty young and not pretty dependable back then. I remember a small hamburger joint right next door to the Chevrolet dealer on S. Park Ave, where you could get a bag of 10 burgers for a buck, a lot of money back then. I remember, the IGA supermarket on the South End, near Southside Lumber. I even saw the singing TV Cowboy, Gene Autry, and his sidekick, Froggy, there once - live in the parking lot. Surnames of neighbors and friends that I can remember are; LAUDERDALE, DUKES, HOWARD, CARTER, PRICE Names I'm researching are: RAINS, GLENN, LEEHY, HOLLAND, DUKES, MONROE, I've been researching my lines on the internet for about 10 years now. And I'm happy to say I've met several cousins online when our research paths have crossed, so those new to the game..don't give up! Happy Hunting!
