    3. Good to hear from you, and everyone else as well. This flurry of communication has sparked my interest again in searching. I too have spent a fair amount of time trying to trace Junior Meredith. I've looked on several of the rolls, and I have seen some Meredith names, but there just doesn't seem to be any connection there. I would love to even find info as to where Junior or his wife are even buried. I wish I had this interest when my great-grandfather was still alive. Do you have any photographs of the family? I have some, but they are mostly of their off springs, and someone who I think was an uncle. 3. Mike, A lot of the Westbrook brothers seemed to have worked at the salines at one point. Samuel Westbrook, the preacher, spent much of his early adult career at the salines. His younger brother Lewis showed up in the Crenshaw neighborhood in the 1850 Census living north of the Old Slave House and listed as a laborer. Lewis was part of the extended Crenshaw clan. His wife was a niece to John Hart Crenshaw, and daughter of Caleb and Nancy (Crenshaw) Baldwin. I'm also descended from James Westbrook through his son William J. Westbrook (1813-1859). William also has another connection to the extended Crenshaw family. His wife Mary Taylor was a niece of John Hart Crenshaw's wife Sina Taylor. Mary's father William H. Taylor was Sina's brother. 3. Hello everyone. I too have been pleased to see all the recent activity and connections made. That said, I want to remind everyone of the following: 1. Please remember to type a very specific subject line (X family, Z time period, etc) on your messages to the list. Many people don't read every single message that comes through, and may skip yours entirely, especially if it has a generic subject line. 2. There are currently 309 people subscribed to the list, and of course we are not going to make everyone happy all the time. But please try to be as courteous to everyone subscribed as possible. If you are responding to a message on the list with info relevant only to the original poster, PLEASE REPLY ONLY TO THE ORIGINAL POSTER. This goes ESPECIALLY for messages like "nope he's not in my line" and "good to hear from you," etc. When the list gets exceptionally busy, like it is right now, we have lots of people drop (which is NOT A GOOD THING, those people may be your fifth cousins and no one has made the connection yet) because they get tired of wading through all the personal replies that go out to the whole list. Plus, I get nasty notes from all the irritated ones. :> 3. Rootsweb has been updating the lists and switching some things around, and a fair number of folks are having trouble posting to the list, etc. If you have problems and have already emailed me, please give me a day or so, and I promise I will get back to you (I have about 22 people to check on so far). If you have not emailed me about problems but are having them, please let me know. FINALLY, since we have probably already irritated all those likely to be irritated by lots of messages, I would like to do an official "ROLL CALL" of the list. We used to do one twice a year, and since I started having my kids, that seems to have gone by the wayside (my fault, definitely, and by the way we are adding yet another little branch to our family tree in 2007). :> Everyone who hasn't already, please send a message to the list, telling us which families you're researching, and in which locations. PLEASE BE AS SPECIFIC AS POSSIBLE. I am looking for: RUSHING - I have started an ambitious project to figure out how the heck each and every Rushing in Williamson Co in the 1800s is related to each other. This takes me back into TN for one group and KY for another. But if you have Rushings in the 1800s, I'd love to know what you know. CAGLE - I descend from Charles Cagle & Polly Demontbrun Cagle, who came here from Nashville, TN in the 1830s with LOTS of children. I have lots of info to share. CHAMNESS - I descend from Jonathan P. Chamness's daughter Martisha, born about 1842, who married Allen Cagle. Again, I have a fair amount of info to share. THOMPSON - Any info about the family of Richard/Richmond M. Thompson & his wife Sarah Hendricks Thompson, who came to Herrin from Logan Co, KY in the 1890s. Hope to hear from you all soon - Angela Williamson Co, ILGenWeb http://www.people.ku.edu/~place/williamson.html

    3. I'm still out here. Names I'm researching are Travelstead, Merrell, Springs One was married to a Henshaw too. I was born Lightner Hospital Harrisburg Saline County and began school in Harrisburg and Carrier Mills. My mother was Gertrude Travelstead daughter of my grandparents John Blaine Travelstead and Susi Merrill. My Great parents Lafayette Merrell and Sarah Springs Merrell Williamson County owned property next to Bethel Church Whipporwill road and are buied there along with my grandparents and many other Merrells and Travelsteads. My mother's aunt married a Jordan and they owned Jordan's store on old Jordan Curve Williamson County A bit of history about it is found at Williamson County Historical Society's webpage. We moved to Michigan in 1952 but I went back and spent summers with family members living in Saline and Williamson counties. My stepfather Lloyd Adams mother (my grandma Eckles) and her husband Frank Yezek bought the old Merrell/Travelstead property next door to Bethel from my mother when we moved and I spent a lot to time with them and at the church and the cemetery. I was always fascinated with reading the old tombstones and have now found so many of them were my family members. I also attended many of the Bethel Homecomings with dinner on the grounds as a child and would go and sit in the church and sing all by myself on weekdays. Nothing was ever locked back then. Many fond memories for me and many members were old school friends of my mother's. I still have family in Saline and Williamson and go back at least once a year and still visit the old cemetery when I do. And have even taken some of my grandchilder to see where there ancestors are. Love to hear from anyone. Email donnal@core.com Several years ago one of my nieces helped me transcribe all the names in the cemetery. Will help you if I can. 1. [ILWILLIA] Creal relatives
    2. Mike Howerton
    3. Hello Mary Jo; It is very nice to hear from you. I ran into a bunch of brick walls at the same time so I have not been doing much research for a couple of years. Also thank you for the Creal notes. Maud Creal is my 1st cousin 3 times removed. George Washington "Wash" Creal 1855-1920 is my great great grandfather. Wash's dad was Jasper Creal and he sold some land to his younger brother Edward Creal which later became Creal Springs. I don't have an Esco Creal in my records I am curious about him because the only Creal clan in the area were all descended from Elijah Creal 1795-1856 as far as I know so I suspect he fits in somewhere. I hope you are in good health. I don't remember what Creal names you are researchinb but thought I would send the following items I found in one of my books. Mary Jo ~~ An Obit for Mrs. Della CREAL, wife of ESCO CREAL of White Ash. She died at the late home at age 30 years and 1 month. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John HARRIS of Creal Springs and was survived by her husband and five small children. Mentions --Mrs. Ennie Newton, Mrs. Ray Creal, Mrs. Alice Creal, Mrs. Laura Castleman, Mrs. R.A. Lyerla and daughter and Mrs. Stella Davis, all of White Ash. From MDR March 11, 1920 Another item from Creal Springs reads: Maud CREAL, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.T. CREAL passed away at her parent's home in East St. Louis on Sunday and was brought to Creal Springs for burial in the nearby cemetery. She was 33 years of age. Funeral services were held in St. Louis. MDR- November 6, 1920 Creal Springs: Mesdames J.W. CREAL and Wash CREAL went to St. Louis to be at the bedside of Wash CREAL who is in St. John's Hospital suffering with cancer. -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. 1. Re: [ILWILLIA] Family Surnames
    2. Most of my family names were in the Johnston City area. Jackson, McMullen, Webb, and Roach. They came to the area from Spotsville Kentucky and West Pine Knot, Kentucky around 1905. Debbie Wilson Fehr

    3. Missy--- Well, hello, cousin!!! (However distant it may be--LOL!) We do have a match here. My grandfather had a few notes about his ancestry, but no sources cited. He listed William Phillips & Katherine Rice being born in Tennessee. Showed Labon/Laban born in Alabama. I would love to know what brought them to Illinois. I did find reference to Labon and two siblings in the 1910 census in Williamson County. Need to go back and look at that more closely now. Found Melvina and Susan, but otherwise I know virtually nothing about this line. I would love to accept your offer to share. This is my mom's family. (My father's branch is so much easier to trace, so I took the simpler route first.) The last time I visited Marion was to attend my Grandmother's funeral in 1995--before I was interested in my ancestry. Looks like it's time to visit the area again soon. If you wish to contact me off-list, feel free to use ann.morey@gmail.com or amorey@cinci.rr.com. Happy Thursday!
