Trying to confirm William TAYLOR who was in Gibson CO TN., ( on the 1850 census, married to Nancy ACUFF) was the father of my James William Taylor born abt 1834 in KY or TN. James William TAYLOR married Milly Malone RAY 1856 in Williamson CO IL. They were on the 1860 Williamson Co IL., census in Atilla. They were living by Rays from Gibson Tn., and Wake NC. Milly M Ray was the daughter of Wiley Ray and Louisa Carter. Wiley was not with his wife and children found on the 1850 Henderson Co TN., census.I believe John W Carter who was in Williamson Co IL. to be the father of Louisa Carter b abt 1810 in NC. John W Carter was on the 1820 Wilson Co Tn., census living by Oneals and Brooks who seem to have followed him and the Ray family to Henderson Co TN., and into Gibson Co TN., and into Williamson Co IL. James William Taylor and Milly Malone Ray Taylor were in Williamson Co IL., in 1860 (Atilla) then in Jackson CO IL., in 1870. After james William Taylor died, his widow Milly married William Glasscock in Williamson CO IL in the early 1880`s. Children of James and Milly were: Sylvensus Chester Taylor John A.L. Taylor was bor in Gallatia Saline Co IL., he married 1st Charlotte Arnold (divorced) married 2nd Lillie Terry Winfield Scott Taylor William T Taylor James Henry Taylor married Ella Nora Felts., daughter of Wyatt H Felts and Sarah Ann Duncan. Sarah Ann Duncan was the daughter of Enoch n Duncan and Harriet Lewis Enoch N Duncan was the son of Benjain Duncan and Temperance Baker Benjamin Duncan was the son of John P Duncan and Lydia Spiller Wyatt H Felts was the son of Harris D Felts and Susan Byrle Harris of Robertson Co Tn. I havn`t been able to find Wiley Ray`s parents. Wiley seems to be related to the Ray/Wray family of Wilson TN and the Gibson Co TN., Rays --------------------------------- Yahoo! I'm descended from them on my father's side, plus they've popped up in my research on the Old Slave House and the saltworks. There doesn't seem to be anyone searching in my family, but I have noticed a lot of people searching the Travelstead name. My great grandfather was born in Allen County, KY. In 1892 he, Langston Evans Williams and his wife, Dorcas Martha Elizabeth Walker arrived in Franklin Co. They and their children then found their way to Marion, Williamson CO. Langston had a sister, Mary Elizabeth Williams Travelstead (daughter of George Washington Williams) married to Granville Travelstead. I am wondering if the Travelsteads in Williamson Co could be related to her or her children. Loraine --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Get on board. Benjamin Franklin CLOUD and Eliza Jane PEARCE, married in TN in 1856. They traveled through southern IL, probably Marion or near there, on way from TN. It is unknown if they stopped in the area. Later they are found in IL. The record of Benjamin's death, August 27, 1895, has been found in a bible. Eliza Jane's daughter, Susan Caroline CLOUD, married Elvis CHAMNESS. Susan died leaving children. After Benjamin's death Eliza Jane went to live in the home to care for her grandchildren. She died 1919 and record found says she is buried in Pidgeon Creek Baptist Cemetery, Marion, IL. I would like to contact anyone related to any of these families. Dorothy
Joy, my ancestor, Elisha Reynolds lived in Wilkes County, NC. He had a brother , Frank, and both these men had large families and lived there from the 1750s and well into the mid 1800s. Some of the offspring went to SC, and some to TN. So, we may have a connection. If you would like to give me more particulars, we could check it out. Is your tree posted online anywhere?
