    2. George Russell Born 12 January 1880 in White Co. IL. Married Ida Parton 11 January 1900 5 children from this marriage: Verna E. 1900 Irene 1902 Pauline 1905 Louie Banister 1908 George Jerome 1910 George Russells father was Lewis Jackson Russell who was born in White Co. and married Matilda Brasher. Lewis Jackson father was Hiram A. Russell who we think was born in TN. and Hiram was married to Levina Ward in 1842 in White Co. IL. We are involved in the Family Tree DNA project and trying to find the link to Hiram A. Russell father. Hiram A. Russell is our brick wall. Ida Parton born in Williamson Co. on 11 Feb. 1882 Her father was Banister C. Parton. Of Williamson Co. IL. Banister married Rebecca Jane Aplin in 1870 In 1867 James Arnold filed a petition to represent the following : Seaborn B., James M., Wilson H., Benjamin, and John Stony Parton. If there were any girls the Guardian Records didn’t mention them. I believe Seaborn B. Parton is my gr grandfather Banister C. Parton. I wonder if he used the “C” for Seaborn. JoAnn Russell Statom

    1. Re: [ILWILLIA] CLOUD, PEARCE, CHAMNESS families
    2. Dorothy Walker
    3. Howard Thanks you for responding. My one connection to the Chamness family is Elvis Chamness who married Susan Cloud. Susan and my grandmother, LaDora (Cloud) Kern, were sisters. The Cloud family of which Susan and LaDora are a part, went from TN through southern IL on their way to Henderson and Hancock Counties IL in the 1860's. I do not know if they stopped there but many Cloud families were to be found in that area later so it is possible they did stop. Eliza Jane (Pierce) Cloud, after her husband, Benjamin Franklin Cloud died, went to live in the Elvis Chamness home after Elvis's wife, Susan, died leaving small children. Eliza Jane died in Williamson County in 1919. Her obituary indicates she is buried in the Pidgeon Creek Baptist Cemetery. Many of the Clouds living in thatcounty were/are related to my Benjamin Franklin Cloud family. I have been interested to find if any of them might have stories of the family before coming to IL or might even have some pictures which they could copy and share. Thanks again and I will be glad to hear from you again. Dorothy

    3. Tonia, In the two volumes of Choate history, there is a mention of a Lisa Renee Ellis who married Roger Lynn Lipe in 1981..they had two children, Jesse Arron Lipe and Ashley Rene Lipe, that appears to be the only connection.... it goes back to William Choate, Jesse Choate, Nicholas Choate then Greenberry.... thanks for writing, I'll be glad to give you more info if this is your line.... 3. Sue.... YEARS ago Henry Colboth, who lived in Creal Springs told me his grandmother was Polly Henderson... who married John Colboth... [they are both buried at Drake Cemetery along with Jacob, John was Jacob's son] That was about 1950. A few years ago I did a lot of searching for Polly's family... the first will in Saline Co., is for Wilson Henderson. He DOES NOT list a daughter named Polly or Mary... but my Polly wasn't living when he died... We live in Billings, MT, I go to southern IL as often as I can.... I have cousins etc. there. I've been to the Cranston Church, visited with a Rev. Nelson [I think that is his name] I've hired someone in Marion to look for a connection for me and Wilson Henderson.... they could not find one. SO I am still looking for something that will help me find a father for Polly Henderson. In a couple census, Wilson Henderson and I think, it was Ezekiel Choate, were close neighbors.... an ancestor of mine.... We aren't sure of anything right now except that John Colboth married Polly Henderson..... maybe she was a granddaughter of Wilson Henderson who was the minister......???? If you are interested in the material I have on Wilson Henderson, I'll look for it and send copies to you.......... thanks for writing.... 3. Hello Dan, Thanks for thinking of me but to my knowledge, is not one of my Carter's. I took a trip in July back in time to Germany to visit my old haunts that I remember as a 17 year old soldier. I visited the towns of Esslingen Am/Neckar near Stuttgart and Kaiserslautern. Esslingen had not changed in the places that I often visited but in Kaiserslautern I could not find one familiar landmark and I was disappointed in that. Over all I had a good time. 3. Most of my more recent ancestors from the Williamson/Jackson County area were living in and around the Grassy Township vicinity. Some spread out to Herrin/Carterville and others to Marion. There is a lot of confusion surrounding parts of my NOLEN and COX lines. Here are the names I search for: NOLEN, COX, KEITH, CRAVEN(S), FORD, RUST SMITH (the last three are probably not really my ancestors, but these are the names of the family involved in raising my Grandmother. Also included with these names should be GREATHOUSE, CRAIN, SPLLER and BENSON, etc.), WOOD(S), STOVER, TALLY, TURNAGE, STEPHENS, DONAHOO, TARPLEY, DAVIS, ROACH, STROUD, BRANDON, GRANT and HAWKINS. MILLER, KRANTZ, ROBINSON, DONOHO, JENKINS, CLAYTON and BROOKS. I've hit so many brick walls over the years that I sometimes loose interest. 3. Dorthy-My name is Howard Rushing and I am related to the Cagle family. My Grandmother on [on my Dad's] side was Melvina Cagle. She was the grand-daughter of Charles Cagle -one of the pioneers in settling in Williamson County. Melvina's father was Allen Cagle. Melvina married Hohn Newton Rushing. They had several children including my father Amos Allen Rushing. My Dad was born in 1887 & died in 1965. I can recall hearing the name Elvis Chamness mentioned in our home many times. I have visited Pidgeon Creek Cementary many times. If you have any specific questions I would be happy to share what little knowledge I have of the Chamness family. 3. Lorraine, I believe all these Travelsteads go back to a William Traffenstadt in North Carolina. I believe Granville is son of Abraham, son of William Traffenstadt by his first wife, Catherine Anthony. The line in Williamson county is from Peter William, son of William Traffenstadt by his second wife, Hannah Miers. Myself, I have a Travelstead connection through Nancy Ann, daughter of John Solomon, son of William Traffenstadt and Catherine Anthony. Nancy Ann married my GG Grandfather, Elisha Eddins Reynolds i, and they resided in Johnson County.
