Oooops! Donald Acey was living in Creal Springs in the 1910 census, not the 1920 census. (If I knew where he was in 1920, I wouldn't need the census!) Again, any help would be greatly appreciated. Karen Vaughn [email protected] >^,,^<
Herrin is in Williamson Co., right? I'm looking for anyone looking for information on Dee or John Robbs. One of them owned a Gas Station. They were born in the early 1900's.., probably around 1905-1910.
Does anyone have access to the 1920 Williamson County census? I am trying to find Donald Acey, who was enumerated with Sarah Schuey (as a servant) in the 1910 Williamson Co. census. He would be 23 in 1920. He was living in Creal Springs in 1920. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you, Karen Vaughn [email protected] >^,,^<

After posting this message to the Saline Co. list, I was offered the information that part of Stonefort belonged to Williamson County. Hopefully, someone on this list can help me. If someone has the resources available, I would appreciate a look-up for the cemetery name and/or death dates for David BUCKNER, his wife Nancy, and their married daughter Elizabeth Ann Buckner KEEL. Pension records indicate that both David and Elizabeth died in 1853--probably within the first six months. No exact dates were listed, however. Nancy died later. They lived in the Stonefort area. I am also searching for a death date for Mary Ann Henshaw Keel b. 7/03/1853. There is a stone in the Salem cemetery shared with her husband, but a death date was never inscribed. We believe, through family records and hearsay, that Mary Ann died about 1928 but cannot find documentation. Any ideas of what to do next? Thanks--your time and efforts are greatly appreciated. Carolyn
I have only recently begun my family search, but it is certainly interesting. My maternal ggrandfather, William Fugle FORD, was a member of the Tennessee Cavalry. He died in Bumpus Mills, TN in 1921. That is not what I'm currently after, though. His youngest son of this marriage was Jack Harland FORD. He was reportedly murdered by gangsters on 13 April 1926 in Herrin, IL. I know from family stories that he is buried in Herrin, but I don't know his date of birth or where in Herrin he was buried. His two elder brothers, John and Thomas, also lived and died in Herrin, but there deaths are much later. Could anyone check the cemetery there for the birth and death dates for all three or just for Jack Harland? I have sent for a death certificate, but it hasn't come yet and my mother is anxious to learn what she can about her father. She was two when he died. I will cheerfully research what and where I can or share anything I have about the rest of my family. I am searching BIERMAN, JACOBSON, FORD, MORRIS, JONES, and MCKAY. Thank you.
I am a descendant of William Jackson Ridgway and Sarah E. Tanner. W J. Ridgway was born 1855 in StoneFort, IL. He is the son of W. Hale Ridgway and Nancy Campbell. Sarah E. Tanner b.1854 StoneFort, Williamson Co. is daughter of Tames Tanner and Mary Jane Arnold. Any information you have and will share on this family will be greatly appreciated. Don Smith
Could I ask a favor of someone in Williamson Co? I would like a copy of an obit from either Thursdays or Fridays paper for John Trujillo. This would be the paper that serves Marion IL. Thanks Sharon
I am searching for information about the death and burial of John S. Hestand. He is listed (as Jno Hastin) in the 1860 Williamson County census at Blairsville P.O. (fam 930). I found a land purchse signed by both John S. and Sally, in 1865 in Williamson County. His wife, Sarah (Sally) Hestand is in the 1880 Denton County, Texas census living with a son, John H. Hestand. I am unable to locate John S. or Sally in the 1870 census of either Illinois or Texas. I suspect that John S. Hestand died in Williamson County after 1865 and his widow went to Texas to live with her son. Can anyone suggest a source for locating John S. Hestand? Are there any on-line sources for deaths 1865 - 1880? Are Blairsville Twp cemetery censuses available on-line? Or if someone has a copy of one of these sources, could you do a look-up for me? Thanks in advance. Ken Hestand Fort Worth, Texas

According to the 1910 Williamson County census, Don Acey (my grandmother's half-brother) was living with Sarah Schuey as a servant. I believe she was 53 (hard to read) and a widow. This is in Creal Springs. Does anyone have any information on Sarah? Thank you ! Karen Vaughn Researching: Vaughn, Asa (Acy, Acey), and Farmer in Southern Illinois [email protected] >^,,^<

I am really glad to hear from everyone who responded about the census -- I've learned a couple of things that I want to pass on: 1) Someone told me that if you received the "short" form, and want to fill out the "long" form, you could go to this Web address and request the "long" one: http://www.census.gov/dmd/www/infoquest.html However, when I went to the site, I discovered that the forms there are "for informational purposes only" -- i.e., not to fill out. So far as I can discover, you get the form you get in the mail, and you can either fill it out or wait for a follow-up enumerator to come get the info from you. But I can't tell whether the follow-up enumerator will merely ask for the "short" info or the "long" info. 2) There is a FAQ about all the issues raised by people (race, the govt's general noseyness, tax dollars, rural vs. urban, why you should fill out the forms in the first place, etc) at this address: http://www.census.gov/dmd/www/faqquest.htm 3) On the Census website, it says that about 1 in every 6 households receives the long form for the year 2000. -----Original Message----- From: RDCTWA >Appears to me that the ones who received the short form are complaining, and >hey guys and gals, if you received the long form you would also complain.. ----------------------------- Some people would complain if you hanged them with a brand-new rope. Nevertheless, tonight we have read several widely diverse methods of taking the Y2K census, as opposed to the methods advertised by the Census Bureau. Bruce Wms
what is all of this about who got a short census form and who got the long. My first 5 are all about this, and I know there are more. SH
