When I'd ask the parents' friends in Johnston city about that town, they's say people probably walked their dogs there. My guess is that dogs just ran loose. Bruce Wms

    3. Hi all. Two quick announcements: 1) The WCHS will host a Cemetery Tour in the Crab Orchard Wildlife Refuge on Saturday the 20th of May at 10 am. Contact Charla Murphy at <[email protected]> if interested. These are always fun and free. 2) Over Labor Day weekend, various groups are working together to host a "Genealogy Homecoming" (see message below). The WCHS probably will be involved, no exact details yet. Contact Mort Watson at <[email protected]> for more info. 1. [ILWILLIA] Apologies & Free Ice Cream
    2. Angela Place
    3. Hi all. I apologize to everyone who's emailed me in the last week or so--it's the last week of the semester at KU, and I feel like I've barely been home, let alone responding to mail. I will start sorting thought it immediately, though. Anyway, though this is not at all related to genealogy, I wanted to pass on this info about Baskin-Robbins' free ice cream tonight, Wed 5/3, and the good cause it supports. Go have a scoop and support children's literacy! (This is indeed legitimate--I went to the Baskin-Robbins website and checked it out. Only "participating locations" are giving out the free scoops tonight (and donating money to First Book), but I would imagine that most locations *are* participating...) - --------------------------------------------------- > I just wanted to let you know about Baskin-Robbins' "Free Scoop Night" > on Wednesday, May 3, from 5 p.m. 10 p.m. Everyone who goes to a > participating Baskin-Robbins store across the U.S. can get a free scoop > of ice cream. 1. [ILWILLIA] African-Americans in Williamson Co.
    2. Hi list, Hoping someone can help me. I descend from a family that came from GA to Union/Williamson Cos. in IL in 1840's. Most of these family members are listed as "mulatto" in 1850. My branch later moved to MO in the 1870's and passed as white. Names I am researching are BRYANT, SCOTT, and TURNER. I am hoping that there are members of these families who remained in Williamson and Union Cos. (descendants of the original bunch) who might be able to help figure out our ancestry. I believe that those that remained probably stayed in the black community. I am looking for descendants of Andrew and Susannah BRYANT SCOTT, living in Williamson Co., IL, in 1850, 1860 and 1870. They had children Nancy, Wiley, James Eliza, Sarah, and Missouri A. Also looking for descendants of Theophilus and Mary Ann BRYANT TURNER and descendants of Hannah BRYANT, listed in 1860 in Williamson Co., IL, with children Martin Van Buren, Silas, Amanda J., William M., Jno. A., Frances, and Susan. A Frederick CHAVERS, b. @ 1786 in GA, is also in her household. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Doug Powers
