Hi, I would like to make contact with anyone with any knowledge of the Mohler family of Marion. William Pinkney Mohler and his family arrived in or around Marion after leaving Johnson Co. IL. Probably about the turn of the century. The Mohler name is still present in Marion today. I also have been told that there was a Mohler Crossing (crossroads) east of Marion. I would like to hear more about that if anyone has any knowledge of it. I am looking for John D Mohler that would possibly have arrived about 1860-1865, his wife's name was Martha. I have found their children living is Williamson and Johnson Co. after 1860. I would be grateful for any contact with someone connected or has knowledge of any of my Mohlers in Williamson Co. I am new to this list so please excuse if I have asked too much info. Thanks, Lee Ann
Does anyone know of cemetery listings or such for Hurricane Cemetery. I think it was Hurricane Baptist Church and burnt down many years ago. I believe it was in Carterville but mistaken. Any history on the church would be appreciated. Thanks, Buck Childers, Overland Park, KS
And let's not forget it was eventually "carved out" of Franklin County! Some where I have saved an excellent grid that allows one to select any County in Illinois and follow the history of how, when and from what it changed. Can't seem to find it in "my favorites list" at the moment. If anyone has it handy, it should be of interest to many folks on this (and other) lists. Regards to all, Jo Ann Higdon Bermuda Dunes, CA
Since Tina sent out a message about Williamson Co in 1817, I thought it would be worth noting that county boundaries in Illinois have really changed over time, and that Williamson Co did not become a county until 1839. For really good maps that show what counties "included" the land in Williamson County before then, go to this address: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilcumber/ilctybnd/ In 1817, for example, what is now WIlliamson County was then either Jackson or Gallatin... Hello everyone. I recently discovered my 3rd Great-grandmother, Sarah Jordan. She was b. about 1801 in TN (unknown county) and died on 5-3-1870 in Marion, IL. She married Dempsey Odum on June 19, 1817 in Williamson co., IL. I descend through their daughter, Martha. I am hoping to discover some new information on the Jordans. Sarah's parents are Elias Jordan and Sarah Unknown. I would really appreciate any information that anyone might have on them. happy hunting, Tina Hall [email protected] Tina's Family Genealogy Page at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~thall/ Steve and Tina's Home Pages at: http://home1.gte.net/res00waz/index.html

Thanks to all who replied to my request for help with the surname Aichey. Many of you asked if the name could be Richey. I realy don't think so. While the name is hand written, there is little doubt that the first letter is an A or an O. I do appreciate all of your help and your suggestions.
