I have added a few post cards to Marion, Illinois and to Southern Illinois on my web page below. Please feel free to go look! There is a fantastic panorama of the Marion Square and Court House taken about 1910, and a picture of the Marion High School in 1906. Enjoy! Recent messages talked about Nancy O'Neal Edwards. My records show her father John O'Neal was the brother of James O'Neal (my line). Jack Moore Bulverde TX
Hi Bill and thanks for writing! Nancy Edwards was her married name. Her maiden name was Nancy O'Neal. She was born 1828, Wilson County, Tennessee, daughter of John O'Neal and Dorcas Midgett/Midyette. The James O'Neal who married Elizabeth Caplinger in 1817, Wilson County, Tenn., and later moved to Williamson County, Illinois, is likely my Nancy O'Neal Edwards' paternal uncle. My Edwards likely migrated from Franklin County, NC in 1799 to Wilson County, Tennessee where they remained until the 1830s when they moved to Muhlenberg County, Kentucky. By the 1850s they were in Williamson County, Illinois (Attila area). Nancy dies about 1871, but where? In 1872, her husband, McCollister Edwards, buys land in Burnt Prairie, White County, Illinois. Would be delighted to share Edwards info, but doesn't look like our lines connect. The names you mention are not familiar to me, and although I also research in Pope County, Illinois, I have never found my Edwards line connected there. Let me know if you disagree. Thanks again for writing. Debbie McArdle Bill Neal wrote: > Debbie, > Is your Nancy Edwards the same Nancy Edwards who is in my Vaughn line? My > Nancy Edwards was b. Can anyone tell me if this directory gives other information besides the name of husband and wife? I know Prairie Farmers Directory of Saline & Gallatin County, IL gives wifes maiden name, children's names including those no longer at home and the year they became a resident. Are these things included in Creal Springs Directory?
Can anyone give me directions to Mt. Zion Cemetery in Franklin County, IL just across the border of Williamson County? I am visiting So. Hi, I just wondered if anyone knew if Helen Lind Sutt or Dee Fozzard in Williamson Co., IL are on line? Both do a great deal of research and Helen has written several books regarding Williamson Co., IL Best regards, Judy Lee Watts
Hi, Does anyone out there have access to the 1900 census record for Williamson Co., IL? I need a couple of look ups. Thanks and best regards, Judy Lee
I have just purchased a copy of the 1860 Williamson County Census from the GSSI. I noticed that there is a note stating: "If an * appears by a name we have additional information on this person compiled from court records, county histories, cemeteries and area residents. For a SASE JoAnn Hatfield and Helen Lind will share this information with you." Quite a few of the names I am researching have an "*" by their names - however this book was first written in 1976. Does anyone know if these women are still offering this service?
