Hi list, Has anyone sent correspondence to the Williamson County Historical Society and received an answer? In May I sent a letter along with a SASE and have never heard a word. I did ask quite a few questions, but I was hoping if they couldn't/wouldn't answer I would have gotten a reply of that nature, that they don't do any research. Any light on this subject will be greatly appreciated. Joyce Hennessy - searching for GIBBS in Williamson Co.
Hi, I just realized my prior message did not state at what college the genealogy event is to be held. It will be at Southeastern Illinois College located approx. 5 miles east of Harisburg, Il. We would appreciate hearing from those who plan to attend.
Does anyone have any info. on the OLD STONE FORT SCHOOL DIST. #23? I would like to know if this school took the place of the HENSHAW SCHOOL DIST #74. I would appreciate any info on either or both of these schools. Thanks, Linda Holmes White www.geocities.com/dolluvers

I have a new publication that I hope will prove to be a useful tool to researchers. I transcribed every will in the Williamson County Will Book 'B' just as they were written......nothing left out. These wills date from the mid to late 1800's. You may contact me for details about ordering the book at [email protected] Mary Jo Moore

Charla, I am wondering if there are obits of people that d,March 1917 in Creal Springs, Williamson co. Ill. Any help would appreciated. Vi -- Vi Poland
See Charla's message below about how the historical society can help you with recent obits. Remember too (if you're not from the area) that the weekly newspaper The Spokesman is a possibility too; it covers Herrin / Carterville / JC area. Angela ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Thu, 05 Jul 2001 14:13:00 -0500 From: charla schroeder murphy <[email protected]> To: Angela Place <[email protected]> Subject: Obits Hi Angela: I keep seeing different ones on the WC List wanting Obits, usually recent ones. I didn't know if it would be appropriate to put on the list, but we have card files at the WCHS with the obits from the Marion Daily Republican and The Southern Illinoisan. We started keeping them in 1986 (approx.) with a few years missing in between, our obit lady passed away and it was a while before someone else picked up the work, to the present day 2001. We also copy old ones when we find them in our files or some kind soul brings in their box of old ones they had collected for their family or out of a family Bible and let's us copy them. Scrap books are also a good source. So they aren't all 1986 and up, but most are. If they will send a SASE and $1.00 we will send them a copy of the obit if we have it, or their dollar back if we don't. Thanks for your attention to this, and give me a holler anytime I can be of help. As Always, Charla Visit the Williamson Co. Historical Society <www.thewchs.com>

Dear List members, We have now completed eighty Illinois County Family History Links on our website. We will make further updates as we receive more church records, which is a constant ongoing task. We are now preparing to enter the same type of data, church history and family surnames of members information, for counties in Iowa, and have already entered our information for five counties in Wisconsin. We have the research either complete or well underway for Nebraska, Kansas, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho, but in Missouri, Kentucky, and Indiana, we have a great deal more original research work to do, and will appreciate help from anyone who knows of the existence of Primitive Baptist church records or membership lists for those states. We have made enough revision and addition to our whole website, to warrant giving you the URL addresses again, in case you wish to check our site again, or see it for the first time. We encourage you to write on the guest books which are at the bottom of two or three of our webpages. Here are the website addresses: Our main homepage (with links to research completed and/or in progress for several states): http://www.carthage.lib.il.us/community/churches/primbap/pbl.html Or, for Illinois counties, go directly to: http://www.carthage.lib.il.us/community/churches/primbap/FamHist.html Best wishes, Elder Robert Webb The Primitive Baptist Library Carthage, Illinois ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Hi All, I am looking for any information on my grandfather and great-grandfather. My great-grandfather's name was Rex Evans. He worked at a barbeshop in Johnston City, IL. He wife was Merly Evans. They had one son (that I know of) who was Amos Evans. Amos was an officer in WWII and married Mary Ruth Gordon (c.1948). My father, Ronnie Lee Evans, was born in 1948. Amos and my grandmother soon divorced in the early 50's, and she very rarely talked about him. I would appreciate any help that anyone could give me. Thanks. Jason S. Evans
