Greetings from Canada, I have but recently discovered that a branch of my Folkers family came to and continues to reside in the Frankfort, IL area, this dates back to 1849 when one Johnson Folkers, then age 13 came to America with an Uncle, Diedrich Brumund to the Frankfort, IL area. Johnsons father and my GGrandfather Peter Folkers were brothers, their father Frank T. (and the T. is very important because of other Folkers with Initials very similar) the T. standing for Theilen, followed with the other 4 children in 1852, his wife having died in 1843, Ostfriesland, Niedersachen, Germany. Presently, the families of Herbert P. Folkers of Frankfort, IL., and Frank Folkers of Chicago,IL., and other unknown Folkers, would be Johnson's descendents. Johnson Folkers, a civil war veteran, was a well known and very successful businessman of Frankfort, businesses which he passed on to his three sons.
