Cornelius Covenhoven VAN HORNE was b. in NY and came to Will co., IL in 1832 with his first wife Elizabeth VEEDER. He remarried in 23 Jan 1842 in Porter co., IN to Mary Mariah RICHARDS. I don't believe that Cornelius was living in Porter co., IN at the time of this marriage and wish I knew what his connection to Porter co., IN was. I know he was related to the Alyea's, but that connection was back a few generations. Several of us have been searching long and hard for information on Mary (one source calls her Mary Minier Richards/Riehard. Their first son was the famous railroad builder, William Cornelius VAN HORNE who built the Canadian railroad to the Pacific. William married Lucy Adaline HURD in Bloomington, IL.
