    3. Hi, I can't tell you if Wiliington is in Will County. However, here is the address I wrote to to get the Civil war Regiment list for IL: The address is IRAD-Regional History Center, Swen parson Hall, Northern Illinois University, DekKalb, IL 60115. This list will give you the Regiment he served in and the Muster and Descriptive Roll list will give you the date and place where he was mustered out. The next step is to write to the National Archives, Textual Reference Branch (NNR1), 7th and Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20408 and ask for form 80. This is the to order copies of Veterans Records. Request both Military and Pension records. Although, the records may or may not give the name of his parents. If you know where your gggrandfather was married, send for the marriage certificate. This usually gives the name of the parents and the place of birth.
