    3. Thanks so much! I have some of that but not all. I am descended from Milton Garrett (through daughter Martha), probably through his first wife (not Laney), who apparently died in New York--they moved to Joliet from Orleans Co., NY, around 1848--but I am very interested in the whole family configuration. I have discovered from the obituaries of Charles and George Pickel that Laney Garrett, Julia Loomis, and George and Charles Pickel were all siblings. I am rather wondering if Hannah McQueen was their mother--she is buried in the Zarley Cemetery next to Milton and Laney Garrett and a baby daughter of Charles and Matilda Pickel--four tombstones together, all the same kind. Julia Loomis married John Coons in Edgar Co. IL and moved to Missouri. I still need to trace her descendants. On the actual 1880 census, John Clark is listed as "adopted boy." He was apparently the adopted son of Milton Garrett, since he was with Milton and Laney as a 9-year-old on the 1870 census. But I have no idea who he was or what happened to him! Another mystery.... As far as I can tell, Charles and Milton lived for years at 108 Mills Rd., in Joliet. It began as Milton's house and later was Charles's house, though I MUST do some deeds research (none filmed by the LDS for Will Co., unfortunately). George and Laney both died there. I've been to see it on my one brief trip to Joliet--clearly not the original house, but it was interesting anyway! Charles was the caretaker for the Valley cemetery on the Wilmington road for many years, according to his obituary--though he himself was buried in Elmhurst (somewhere I want to go on my next trip!). Thanks again--your contributions are always wonderful! Best wishes, Martha Grenzeback graymatters@alltel.net At 10:47 AM 17-02-2003 -0600, kate zavada wrote: >Good Morning Martha, >Mormons have full 1880 census(searchable)up on web. >Joliet page 226C >PICKLE >Charles,36,teamster,b.NY,F-b.
