LUMIS,edgar county,IL 17 feb 1853? and Milton's daughter Martha A. GARRET to Elvin WARNER,will county,IL 28 Nov 1854? Have you gotten Charles PICKEL's civil war record from the state of illinois? He was captured while working in a hospital with Dr. WOODRUFF near or during the battle of Chickamauga.At least that is what it said on the will county genweb site when I put in search for PICKEL entries. Illinois state vet index shows George enisted as a private Co.E,100th IL INF US,residence Joliet. If you get a copy of his record from the state,it will have his physical description(ht.,color of skin,eye color) among other things. Thanks, yes, I have all those things. (The Illinois State Archives are one of the greatest boons to genealogists I know!). In fact--interesting historical note--YOU were the one who found me Martha Garrett's marriage record, quite some years ago, for which I am still thankful--that really got me started! I also got George's and Charles's respective marriage certificates (to Mary J. Simmons and Matilda Munch, respectively) from the Archives. I guess my next mission is to follow Julia Coons's children in Missouri and see if I can find any descendants who know who her parents were.... Thanks again!
