    3. Hello! I am researching the surname of Manning in Will Co., 1856-1900 in Channahon, Will Co., Illinois Here is the narrative that I have: WILLIAM MANNING was born near the city of Cork, Ireland, on August 12, 1835. In 1844 his father (MICHAEL MANNING) and his mother (ELIZABETH) emigrated to the United States, and located in Fishkill, Dutchess County, New York, the subject of this sketch, with the other children following in 1845. The family remained in New York, engaged in the nursery business and farming, until 1856, when all moved to Will County, Illinois and settled on a farm. MICHAEL MANNING was born Bet. 1801 - 1802 in Ireland, and died Bet. 1874 - 1876 in Channahon, Will Co., Illinois. He married ELIZABETH Bet. 1833 - 1835 in Ireland. She was born Bet. 1810 - 1812 in Ireland, and died Bet. 1880 - 1900 in Channahon, Will Co., Illinois. Children of Michael and Elizabeth who would have been with them in Channahon are: WILLIAM MANNING, b. August 12, 1835 in Ireland; JOANNA (HANNAH) MANNING, b. Bet. 1840 - 1841 in Ireland; THOMAS MANNING, b. 1844, Ireland; ELIZABETH (LEDA) MANNING, b. Bet. 1847 - 1848, New York; BARTHOLOMEW MANNING, b. Bet. 1849 - 1850, New York In 1861, William enlisted in the 39th regiment of the Illinois volunteers at Camp Douglass, Chicago, Illinois. His rank was that of 1st class musician. During the time of September 1861 until June 1862, he was enlisted with William C. Harrah and C. Harrah. He was discharged on June 4, 1862. On April 8, 1863, William married Apaline D. Harrah, sister of of William C. Harrah in the town of Morris, Grundy Co., Illinois Children of William and Apaline while they were in Channahon: FRANCIS (FRANK) MANNING, b. April 02, 1864, Illinois; d. Unknown. WILLIAM E. MANNING, b. December 26, 1865, Illinois; d. Unknown. If there is anyone familiar with this family or can aid me in the research, I would be most grateful. I've not been able to find William's naturalization, although he indicated that he'd been naturalized in either 1870 or 1890. I've not been able to find the death records for Michael and Elizabeth, nor where they are buried. I am also very interested in the other members of William's family, as only he has been researched.
