    3. Hi List, Happy New Year. Supposedly my great-great-great Grandfather Frederick Oldendorf bought land in Monee in 1848 or 49. I noticed on the 1850 census that there was no census taken for Monee. Is there another town they may have been counted in. I'm trying to find out in the census what other children Frederick may have had. I have found him on the 1860 census, but by this time it looks like his son had taken over the farm. Thank You, Missy in Michigan

    3. Hi Missy, Not sure this will help, but there are some similar names listed in the index of the "1878 History of Will Co. IL". This is a reprint of the original and may be a typos in the original or reprint. The other option is that these were spelling errors in the original county records. I have found others, so it is very possible these could be connected to your ancestor. Tricia M. Real Estate Owners Lists; page 969 are for Crete Twp. page 942 are for Monee Twp. Here is another possibility... a "Fredk. Oldendorf" enumerated in 1850 in Addison township in Dupage county. Perhaps your ggg grandfather had not yet moved to Monee? Addison is not that far away. In any case, here is the household: Fredk. Oldendorf, 28, M, Farmer, born in Germany Sophia, 25, F, born in Germany Ann, 1, F, born in Illinois Henry Cropp (? handwriting hard to decipher), 41, M, Laborer, born in Germany H. Christ. Olchesking (? handwriting hard to decipher, 54, Farmer, born in Germany Could H. Christ. Ol-whatever have been Sophia's father? In any case, there are no sons in the household, and this Fredk. seems rather young to have had a son take over the farm by 1860. Could he be a Frederick junior? Anyway, just FYI. Elizabeth
