    2. Looking for any information available on Burk(e) VanAlstyne/VanAlstine, who according to the 1878 edition of the History of Will County, "settled northeast of the Village of Channahon in 1835". It goes on to list Burke as still resident in the township, with his brother Isaac living in the village. Burke had a son, John, who married a Martha Hardy. Their daughter, Mary Zylphia, was my great-grandmother. I've come across various land deeds for Burke on the Internet, and also noticed one for a Russell Hardy, but don't know if he might be the father of Martha. Almost 20 years ago, I searched the cemeteries in the area and found Issac's grave. I also found gravesites purchased by Burke, but there were no markers, and the custodian was unable to tell me whether anyone was actually buried there. John and Martha eventually moved to Kansas, and I'm trying to pin down when that might be, and if they took Burke with them.
